Castle Fight

A game that is as catching as checkers or chess. An abstract strategy game that is simple and fun to play.

case study

background

Castle Fight is a personal project I developed as an abstract strategy tabletop game with a medieval theme. Inspired by classic games like chess and checkers, the project began as a physical board game built around compact, tactical gameplay and clear visual storytelling.

Beyond designing the core mechanics, I created a complete brand system for the game, including the prototype, packaging, website, promotional materials, character illustrations, and environmental visuals. The game was playtested and refined through multiple iterations to create a smooth, engaging experience for two players.

objectives

The goal was to create a strategic game that feels easy to understand, but deep enough to reward thoughtful positioning, timing, and long-term planning. From a design perspective, the project allowed me to combine game design, branding, illustration, web design, packaging, and motion into one cohesive product experience. I wanted Castle Fight to feel like a complete world — not just a board game, but a brand with its own tone, visuals, and personality.

Game Development

Developed an original abstract strategy game from concept to playable prototype, including the rules, game flow, visual system, characters, board design, and physical presentation. Through playtesting and iteration, the experience was refined to feel quick, competitive, and easy to replay.

Digital Expansion

The project later evolved beyond the physical tabletop concept into a digital game experience. This expansion opened the door to new platforms, broader accessibility, and a more scalable product vision.

From Tabletop Concept to Mobile Release

In 2026, Castle Fight took the next step from a physical tabletop concept to a fully released Android game. The mobile version translates the original board game mechanics into a digital experience, featuring AI opponents, interactive tutorials, mobile-first UI, and a polished visual system.

This expansion demonstrates the project’s growth from a brand and tabletop prototype into a scalable game product, with future platform releases currently in development.

And below is the story how it all began…

As a creator, I have taken great care to produce a prototype that delivers an immersive gaming experience while also remaining easy to learn and play. We have also developed a landing page where interested gamers can purchase this exciting new game.
